MAORI ARTS

PROPOSAL FOR SCHOOL DISCUSSED AT WANGANUI (From Our Oxen Correspondent.) WANGANUI, To-day. A proposal that a branch of the Maori Arts and Crafts School should be established in Wanganui was considered rather visionary when the matter was first discussed at Arohanui at Easter, but the formation of the new Maori Ethnological Society has made it possible and steps are now being taken to hold an exhibition, there being quite a number of Maori experts in the district capable of assisting in -the display. Details are now being discussed in connection with an exhibition to be held at Wanganui as soon as arrangements can be completed. The exhibition will cover a week, and it is proposed that personal displays shall be given day by day. The matter is arousing considerable interest.
