STORMY WEATHER
SHIPPING DELAYED SPORT AS USUAL Boisterous weather at sea during; the week-end has delayed a number of vessels en roiite to Auckland. The Union Company’s island passenger steamer Tofua, which was due this afternon from Fiji has met bad weather, and has sent a radio message saying she will not arrive before 7 a.m. to-morrow. The Port Hardy, of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, was to arrive to-day, but on account of the rough weather will not make port before Thursday. The Gisborne boat, Wainui, arrived in port last evening, over six hours late. She had encountered strong westerly winds in the Bay of Plenty. Despite the fact that it was raining almost continually on Saturday, few sports fixtures were abandoned. Football, hockey, athletics, and golf were continued, but bowling enthusiasts had to do without their afternoon’s game. The rainfall for the week-end registered at Albert Park was I.42ins. b-ut the barometer is again rising. After continued rain on Saturday the showers yesterday were less frequent, and to-day the sun shone at intervals between the few showers.
