NORTH SHORE POWER

DATES OF CHANGE-OVER The programme for.the change-over in electrical power for the remaining areas on the North Shore was contained in the report of the engineer to the Waitemata Power Board. The dates are as follow:—June 1, Stanley Point area; July 1, Sumner Street and Mozeley Avenue areas; August 1, Clarence Street sub-station, supplying central area. Regarding the central district to be supplied from the Clarence Street substation, it is not intended to change over the whole of this reticulation in one day, but to work on selected streets in turn. In preparation for this, the 11,000-volt circuit along Calliope Road to Stanley Point has been wired, and guards are being fitted wherever necessary. It is interesting to note that a considerable saving in respect of coal consumption has already been effected at the power station. In Devonport, a transformer platform has been constructed at Calliope bock, where one 100-k.v.a. 11,000-3,300-volt transformer, and one 100-k.v.a. 11,000-415-volt transformer have been connected up with the necessary switchgear and protective apparatus.
