JAPAN UNEASY CffiANG ATTACKS LARGE FORCE ON OFFENSIVE By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 11.15 a.m. SHANGHAI, Sunday There has been noticeable activity among the Japanese regarding the Yangtse situation. A state of emergency has been declared in the # Japanese concession at Hankow. Marines have landed and field guns and machine-guns have been placed on the boundaries. Searchlights from the warships are playing in all directions nightly. The latest reports state that Marshal Chiang Kai Shek launche an offensive against the north, having crossed from Nanking toward Pukow with a large force, attacking the Shantungese.—A. and N.Z.
