THE SUN WINS!
NOVEL CURTAIN-RAISER STUDENTS MAKE MERRY Two newsboys clambered on to the stage at His Majesty’s Theatre last evening. One was selling THE SUN. It was the last performance of “Crooks, Ltd.,” and the students of the Auckland University had decided on a novel curtain-raiser. Each of the newsboys yelled his news—yelled so loudly that both became hoarse. Students in the gallery yelled as they tossed long streamers of paper (which by the way were never intended to be streams) down among the audience. Still the opposition newsboys yelled. Gradually one of them became tired of the battle of noise. His voice died away almost to a whisper. “Wv don’tcher buy a SUN?” taunted the other. Taking the hint he did. Ife bought THE SUN, sat down in the middle of stage and read its bright contents with interest as his rival went on his way.
It was a diverting curtain-raiser to the final performance, which certainly went out in a blaze of glory.
