GREAT NORTHERN DERBY
FINAL FORFEIT TOO EARLY CANTERBURY OWNERS’ VIEW Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. At the meeting of the Canterbury Owners and Breders’ Association the secretary was instructed to write to the Auckland Trotting Club that the time of the final forfeit for the Great Northern Trotting Derby, June 2, was much too early as the race would not be run until the spring meeting, and suggesting that the forfeit be at the time of nominations for that meeting.
A gold watch was offered by a member for competition among financial members for the best one-day performance of driver and trainer. It was decided to ask the Canterbury Park Trotting Club to postpone the date of nominations for its meeting until May 23, which was just after the Oamaru Trotting Club’s meeting. It was also decided to ask the Auckland Trotting Club to alter its date of nominations from June 2 until June 6, a few days after Canterbury Park meeting.
