MEMORIAL LIBRARY LEAGUE
JUMBLE SALE A successful jumble sale was held in the Alexandra Street Mission Hall yesterday in aid of the funds of the Mayoress War Memorial Library League, when the satisfactory sum of £37 was realised. Naturally when one considers the vast amount of work that is continually being accomplished by this splendid league, which send parcels of books and papers to all parts of the country, to back-blocks settlers, lighthouse keepers, hospitals and other institutions, and numbers of other folk who eagerly welcome each mbmp wgfpy ders how they ever manage to meet the colossal postage bills that must be theirs, and it is indeed pleasing to think that their efforts at augmenting their funds meet with so ready a response.
A large committee of ladies worked untiringly at the stalls, among them being the Mayoress, Mrs. A. C. Campbell, Mrs. Mathias, Mrs. McNair, Mrs. Morpeth, Mrs. Hall, Miss Neubigen, Miss Frost, Mrs. Meares, and Mrs. McGregor.
