BIRTHDAY GIFT TO ORPHANAGES
A GENEROUS CITIZEN MR. MOSS DAVIS GIVES £1,250 Most people receive sifts on their birthdays. Mr. Moss Davis, an Auckland business man, now resident in London, is the exception. He has celebrated his 80th birthday by giving £1,250 to Auckland orphanages and philanthropic societies. Gifts of £IOO each to St. Mary's Home for Girls, Orphans’ Home, Papatoetoe and the Richmond Road Orphanage are specified. Auckland has known the philanthrophy of Mr. and Mrs. Moss Davis not once or twice. Works of art and valuable manuscripts have been given to the city. During the war period Mr. Davis did valuable work in London on a committee which saw to the needs of wounded and convalescent soldiers. His advice and experience of business matters in London has been at the service of many visiting New Zealanders.
The birthday party took place on May 3. and Mr. T. P. O’Connor proposed the health of Mr. Moss Davis
