NORTHCOTE BAPTISTS

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of St. John’s Baptist Church, Northcote, was held this week. The treasurer’s report showed a steady reduction in the church’s liability. This reduction was largely accounted for by the successful bazaars that have been held recently. The church will shortly commence with what is known as the duplex system of giving, which will do away with the offertory being taken during services. His Grace the Primate of New Zealand has promised to take the service in July, when the duplex system will be commenced. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Vicar’s warden, Mr. Herbert Cadness; people’s warden and treasurer, Mr. C. A. Deuxberry; members of the vestry, Mr. A. Taylor, Mr. J. Taylor, Mr. A. E. Harding, Mr. F. Woodhouse, Mr. F. C. Swinbank. Mr. Cadness, Mr. P. Cross. Mr. J. Brown, Mr. W. Newman, Mr. P. Minns; secretary, Mr. Arnold Taylor.
