FIFTEEN

PRIZE-WINNING POEM (First Equal.)

I am a seeker—-searching for a star I linger in the mighty Halls of Life; Here’s a glowing tear-drop, here the rainbow’s gold Here are mouldering ashes, music, clash of strife. 1' am a dreamer—with eyes fixed on the stars And feet that blindly feel along the way, Seeing, I pierce the shadows ’twixt the bars, And find a joy that never will decay. I am a king—here seated on my throne ’Midst blaze of splendour, colour, wealth untold, Earth bows before me; I am King alone; I laugh, I triumph, I shall ne’er grow old! JEAN ALISON. (Aged 15). 61, Albert Rd.. Devonport.
