“ROSE MARIE”
AMAZING FAREWELL SCENES Amid scenes of extraordinary enthusiasm “Rose Marie” bade farewell to Drury Lane Theatre after the 851st performance. Celebrities entering the theatre were cheered by the gallery, and the plaudits were renewed when Mr. Herman Finck took his seat as conductor. Many of the people in the vast audience had seen the play 50, and in Mme cases even 100, times. People started queueing up for the final performance behind the matinee queue at > a.m. Miss Edith Day, who took the part of Rose Marie, received from an anonymous s.dmirer a colossal horse-shoe composed of hundreds of red roses.
At the end of the performance a complete ring was formed of the company and the audience, all linking hands and joining heartily in the strains of “Auld Lang Syne.”
