POULTRY EXHIBITS WINNERS OF CHAMPIONSHIPS (From Our Own Correspondent.') WHANG AREI, To-day. The Whangarei Winter Show continues to prove a great success. The weather is fine, and large crowds attend. Special prizes in the poultry section were won as follows: Alex. Hoey Memorial Trophy, valued at £lO 10s, for the best bird in the show—D. H. Rumbal. Trophy valued at £5- 5s for the best young bird in the show—D. H. Rumbal. Silver Cup for best young Leghorn in Show —A. Caffler. Club Shield for best young bird in the utility section—D. H. Rumbal. Club Shield for best bird in the show of the opposite sex to the winner of the Hoey Memorial—J. H. Kissling. CHAMPIONSHIPS The championships of the North Island Poultry, Pigeon, and 'Canary Association were allocated as follows: Rose Comb Bantam, male or female— A. Fleming. Orpingtons, Utility—D. H. Rumbal. John Pirvis Honour Rose Bowl, for best bird in the utility section—W. A. Hansen. Best hen or pullet in the fancy section—W. A. Hansen. Best cock or cockerel in fancy sections —P>. H. Rumbal. Best old bird in show—W. R. Hanson. Best Buff bantam in show—Lawrence Parkes. Best bantam of any other variety— E. J. R. McLaren. . , Best Orpington in utility section—D. H. Rumbal. Best White Leghorn in utility section —A. Caffler. Best bird, male, other than a White Leghorn or Black Orpington, in utility section —W. A. Hansen. KEEN COMPETITION (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day. Competition for the various cups and trophies at Whangarei Winter Show resulted as — Davidson Cup, presented by Messrs. R. and W. Davidson and Co., Ltd., London —Maungaturoto Dairy Company. Previous holders, 1924, Kaitaia Co-operative Dairy Company and Piopio Co-operative Dairy Company, equal; 1925, Piopio Cooperative Dairy Company; 1926, Kaitieke Co-operative Dairy Company. D. Hannam Memorial Trophy, presented by the old Winter Show Club members for the exhibitor gaining the most points in farm, garden, and dairy produce, a certificate of merit to accompany the trophy, which cannot be won outright—B. Stuart, Parua Bay, 108 i points. Cup, valued at £5 ss, presented by Messrs. Kempthorne Prosser, Ltd., for the most points in the farm section— B. Stuart, Parua Bay, 36J points. Previous winner in 1926, E. O. Weaver. Cup, valued at £5 ss, presented by Messrs. Kempthorne Prosser, Ltd., for the most points in garden section—B. Stuart, Parua Bay, 61 points.
