Flirtation on a Liner
The presence of girl students on board the s.s. Rvndham, which has made a round the world tour with 500 American students, forming a floating university, has not been a success. according to Dr. Albert Heckel, professor of Missouri University, the chief of the men’s side in the boat. Some of the girls, he said, were inclined to be frivolous, and their pre sence did not tend to increase the value of the studies. It distracted some of the men from their work, while some appeared to resent the presence of girls. The students did not wholly approve of these statements. Some of tlugirls said that there was no mor** frivolity or flirting than would have been the case at universities at home Some of the men admitted that there were some cases of bad con duct, mostly caused by over-indulgence in liquor at the outset of the trip, and that a dozen students had found it advisable to abandon the tour.
