TOWN HALL

ORGAN RECITAL The city organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, will give a recital at the Town Hall to-morrow (Sunday) evening, when he will play works by Dubois, Bach, Mendelssohn and other composers. BAND CONCERT A fine programme will be given by the Municipal Band in the Town Hall to-night. The assisting artists are Miss Mary Thomson, elocutionist; Mr. Drayton Venables, baritone vocalist; and Major Maloy, solo clarinetist. Mr. Leo Whittaker will preside at the piano. Outstanding numbers by the band are “Mignon” overture, a selection from Verdi’s “I Lombardi,” and a grand selection from the works of Tschaikowsky, which includes the finale to the Fifthy Symphony, song, “None But a Lonely Heart,” “Danse Trepak, “Sleeping Beauty” ballet, and the brilliant finale to the “1812” overture. Seats can be booked at the Town Hall. DRAMATIC RECITALS Excellent entertainment will be provided at dramatic recitals to be given in the Town Hall concert chamber this evenings and on Monday evening by the advanced pupils of Mrs. Arthur Griffiths, assisted by Miss Laura Walker. There will be special lighting effects, while every attention has been paid to the costuming. This evening’s programme includes the plays, “The Masque of the Two Strangers,” in which there are 18 players, and

“Mrs. Marlowe’s Case” and a Chinese play, “The Sacrifice.” A Shakespearean recital, “Launcelot Gobbo,” will be given b3 r Miss Doris Messer, and Mr. Leonard Griffiths will appear in a sketch from Dickens, “Fagin in the Condemned Cell.” Miss Walker will contribute two songs, "The Waltz Song” and “Softly Awakes My Heart.” There will also be humorous sketches and novelty dances. Booking arrangements are advertised.
