COLLECTING HATS
GIRL’S IMPUDENT SCHEME ENDS IN COURT (From Our Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Both frequent attenders at dune s halls, Mavis Elizabeth Long, aged 17, and Mavis Marion Tasker, aged 19, alleged to have adopted the practice of going without hats and coming away with perfectly good head covering belonging to someone else, and doir~ the rounds of the city dance halls and relieving fellow-dancers of personal goods, stood side by side in the dock to-day. Detective Holmes, in asking for a remand, said the girls appeared some days ago, and were ordered to remain at a certain house. They had cleared out from there, however, and were still attending dance halls and hotels, and stayed at other houses. Mr. E. Pago. S.M., ordered them to remain in custody till a furthe*' appearance on Wednesday.
