ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
LOSS BY HAMILTON RAILWAY STOPS SERVICE (From Our Oxen Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday. The proposed discontinuance by Frankton railway station of its supply of electricity from the Hamilton Borough will mean a big reduction in the revenue to the borough. Last year the department paid the council £i,57S for this commodity. This fact was reported to the council last night by the borough electrical engineer. Cr. J. Tidd, chairman of the Electricity and Water Committee, said the committee had seen this withdrawal by the Railway Department coming for some time. The committee had done what it could to stave off the evil day, but the department realised a lot of power was going to waste at its own joinery works, and decided to utilise this source. This blow to the electricity revenue was the greatest the council had received, and they would have to consider some scheme for encouraging loading off the peak by the use of water-heaters, etc., in order to recompense the council for the loss it was to sustain.
