SAFETY FIRST FOR FERRY PASSENGERS
CROSSING INTO QUEEN STREET Complete satisfaction jvitti the new traffic precaution for the safety of trans-harbour passengers was expressed yesterday by the secretary of the Devonport Steam Kerry Company Ltd. (Mr. Morton). When ferry passengers leave the Ferry Buildings now the traffief officer on point duty raises his white-gloved hand and assures them a safe passage from the buildings into Queen Street. “This is very necessary,” said. Mr. Morton, “and it has been badly required for years. I feel certain that North Shore passengers will greatly appreciate the courtesy.” The action of the City Council in permitting motor-cars to park in this vicinity was strongly criticised by Mr. Morton, who declared that the traffic was far too great in this neighbourhood for any such provision.
