GREAT SUM INVOLVED DETERRENT SENTENCES Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. “At this session of the Supreme Court various persons have been convicted of stealing money from employers when in a position of trust and the total amount involved in these cases is not less than £13,300,” said Mr. Justice Adams in sentencing prisoners in the Supreme Court today. “It has become very evident that sentences in cases of this kind must be such as will act as a deterrent, to similar offences.”
