HE HESITATED—AND WAS KILLED

RUN OVER BY CAR DEATH ACCIDENTAL Indecision uiular the influence of liquor and a greasy road were factors which combined to cause the death of Leslie R. Pritt, a young man, aged 28, of Hamilton, by being run down by a motor-car driven by M. C. Lannan on April 12 at the corner of Hobson and Cook Streets.

At the inquest before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., yesterday, evidence disclosed that deceased had a wife and four children living in Hamilton, and had been up in Auckland looking for work.

The driver of the car, C. Lunnan, said that deceased had walked across in front of his car and he had sounded his horn. Pritt stopped and seemed to hesttate and then continued on. He immediately swerved to the right to avoid hitting Pritt, and put on his brakes. He felt a bump and got out, picked the injured man up and took him to the hospital. He had been travelling at about 15 miles an hour at the time.

Medical and other evidence showed that deceased was under the influence of liquor at the time of the accident. Death from a fractured skull as a result of being run into by a motorcar was the coroner's verdict.
