HOUSEWIVES’ GUIDE Sydney grapes can be bought in the City Auction Marts for 18s a 25!b. case. Local hot-house grapes are making up to 3s a lb. Apples are firmer in price but good table varieties can be bought for about 7s to 8s a case. Vegetables are mostly plentiful. Rhubarb in the marts is worth 1s 6d to 2s a dozen bundles; celery, 1s to 2s 3d a bundle, according to quality; radishes, 3d a dozen bundles; lettuces, 1s to 3s a case. In the shops fish is retailing at late rates. Hapuka is worth 1s a lb.; flounder, 1s 3d; smoked blue cod, 1s 9d; smoked terekehi, 10d a lb.
