EQUAL CITIZENSHIP
AUSTRALIAN CONFERENCE A good delegation is expected from each State to attend the triennial conference of the Australian Federation of Societies for Equal Citizenship, which will be held in Sydney from May 17 to May 20. Speakers at the conference will include Professor Charlton of the Institute of Ciciv Relations, Miss Preston Stanley, and the secretary of the League of Nations Union, Mr Raymond Watt. The following is a brief outline of the work to be done at the conference:—The business will be divided into three sections—(l) Australia’s great future and women’s responsibility; (2) Australia and the Empire; (3) Australia’s position among the nations. Under the first heading consideration will be given to (a) women's claim to equal status as citizens of the Commonwealth. (b) the linking up of women’s social-political bodies for effective Federal action, (c) correlation of social economic law in Australia, (d) child endowment, (e) possibilities of maintaining a journal for Australian voters. Under the second heading questions for consideration will be: (a) women’s status in the Empire, (b) women and migration, (c) British Commonwealth League report. London, (d) reciprocal social legislation within the Empire. Under the third heading attention will be given to: (a) women and world peace. League of Nations; (b) Australia’s Pan-Pacific relationship; (c) work of the International Alliance of Women for suffrage and equal citizenship.
