MAJESTIC

“SUMMER BACHELORS” Jack Lumsdaine, known as “Australia’s Whispering Baritone,” has been specially engaged by the Majestic Theatre* for a short season. He will make his first appearance to-night. In Australia Mr. Lumsdaine has built up a great reputation as a singer and composer. Mr. Lumsdaine is well known to thousands of listeners-in, all of whom are familiar with “Calling,” the popular song written by him. This, in addition to many other favourite ballads, will be featured by Mr. Lumsdaine during the week. As the school holidays are at present taking place, during day and early evening sessions the latest Jackie Coogan production, “Johnny Get Your Hair Cut,” will be filmed. The principal picture will be an amusing farce-comedy entitled “Summer Bachelors.” Madge Bellamy has the leading role of Derry Thomas Because of several unhappy marriages in her own family Derry firmly decided she would not wed. Therefore she prefers married men for acquaintances, feeling that this will keep her from falling in love. Derry conceives the idea of running a club for summer bachelors and makes a success of it. Incidentally she meets many interesting and temporarily interested men. In the following sequences she meets Tony Landor, one of the bachelors, and both enter into the married state. The film is described as hilarious and vastly amusing. The Majestic News and the pictorial review complete a good programme.
