THE STRAND
“SEVEN SINNERS” A mystery comedy, “Seven Sinners,” with Marie Prevost in the principal role, will be the chief attraction on the programme to be screened at the Strand Theatre for the first time today. The story tells of seven daring members of the New York underworld who invade a country mansion. One poses as the owner of the house and the others gain entrance by impersonating guests and servants. Each one is there for the purpose of looting the safe, but none meets with success, as an electric burglar alarm is brought into effect, imprisoning the intruders in the house. Many exciting and amusing incidents follow in rapid succession before the mystery is unravelled and the film is brought to a satisfactory conclusion. Clive Brook enacts the chief male role. The second feature is “Police Patrol,” a stirring story of life in the police force, and relates the experiences of Constable Ryan, stationed in the waterfront district of New' York. Ryan is called upon to investigate a series of robberies that have been taking place in the district, and many exciting incidents occur before the offenders are brought to justice. The role of the constable is taken by James Kirkwood, who xs supported by a well-selected cast. An orchestral interlude, a Strand magazine and an Aesop fable cartoon complete the programme. At the day sessions a special holiday film will be screened for children, “Hero of the Big Snow's,” in which the wonder dog Rin-Tin-Tin plays the leading role.
