AUCKLAND BASKETBALL
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION SEASON OPENS SOON The annual meeting of the Auckland Basket Ball Association was held In the Y.W.C.A. Buildings last evening, Mrs Montgomery presiding over an attendance of about forty members. The melting decided to issue small badges to the members of the winning teams in the championship competitions in future. In appreciation of the secretary’s service it was decided to make her a present of two guineas, and the assistant secretary one guinea. The delegates to the conference of the New Zealand Basket Ball Association were instructed to point out that Auckland could not afford to pay £3 8s a year to the parent body for little visible return. The question of breaking away from the New Zealand Association came up for discussion, but was deferred till after the Dominion meeting.
The season in Auckland opens on May 21 with a knock-out tournament to be followed on May 28 and June 4 by further tournaments—the championship competitions commencing on June 11.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. K. Montgomery; vice-presidents. Miss Elsie C. Hubber, Mr. H. G. Cousins and Miss T. Johnstone; hon. secretarytreasurer, Miss B. Lee; assistant secretary, Miss Thco Lauder; and hon. auditor, Mr. G. T. Lee.
