“SCIENTIFIC OVERHAUL”
YOUTH TO BE EXAMINED REMANDED FOR A WEEK “It is one of those cases where a strong influence should be brought to bear,” said the Rev. Jasper Calder in the Police Court this. morning, when he asked Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to remand Frederick John Taylor, a youth of 2?., for another week for sentence. Taylor, it was explained, had stolen a belt, with a pouch and a gold watch attached, from a friend who had left the articles on the floor of the bathroom in the boarding house where the two were staying. “He is one. of seven brothers,” continued the city missioner, “and the °nly one with the slightest taint. I’m asking for a remand for a real scientific medical overhaul.” A letter in which the accused’s brother said that he was willing to take him on his farm, if giveh another -hance, was received by the court. The magistrate accordingly remanded Taylor for another week, allowing £25 bail, on condition thaf he reported daily to the police.
