SUMMER SEASON CLOSING
The summer season of the Dominion Road Bow’ling Club will close on Saturday with a short tournament. At the monthly meeting of the committee on Tuesday evening feeling reference was made to the deaths of Alessrs. W. Simmonds and B. Allsopp, and motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives.
GREY LYNN PAIRS TOURNEY A pairs tourney was held on the Grey Lynn Bowling Club’s greens yesterday. There were six section ties, each of the pairs having four wins and one loss. The pairs which tied were: J. Preston and F. Preston; Street and Alclvor; Brown and Hunt; Stone ancl H. Jenkin; Jeffrey and Hewitson; Buckle and Best. After the play-offs. Best beat Hewitson in the final by 7 points to 2.
Another pairs tourney will be held on May 25.
resident of Auckland. It was further decided to ask the New Zealand Rugby Union to grant permission to Helensville players to play in Auckland during the present season. A report was received from the referee of the last Saturday AlaristsEllerslie senior B match, stating that he had ordered L. Culpan off the field for illegally charging an opponent. The referee himself did not attend the meeting last evening. It was decided that, in view of no warning being issued by the referee, Culpan should be severely reprimanded, and would be allowed to take the field next Saturday.
