FILL IN SPARE TIME

MODEL SHIPS WANTED “OLD IRONSIDES” COMPETITION ' PRIZE MONEY TOTALS £ls Would you like to fill in some of your spare time in a very pleasant manner and obtain real money for it? Here is your opportunity. THE SUN, by special arrangement with Paramount Pictures, is offering cash prizes of £lO and £5 for the two best models of an old-time sailing frigate known as “Old Ironsides” of the period about 1800.

Descriptions and plans for the model have already been published. For general information it is stated that the length should not be less than 20in in the hull, although there is no actual restrictions as to size. The models will be adjudged on their appearance and detail.

“Old Ironsides” was the name given a sailing frigate in 1803, when it set out from Salem, New England, with a crew of sturdy youths born of British stock, to rid the Mediterranean Sea of pirates. The story of “Old Ironsides” is told in the Paramount picture of that name, with Wallace Beery

and Esther Ralston at the head of a big cast. The “Old Ironsides” ship building contest will end on June 30, when all models must be in the hands of the “Old Ironsides” Contest Editor, at the office of this newspaper. The judging will be done during the following few days. Boys up to 16 years of age arc eligible to compete. Those who intend to make models are invited to write to the Contest Editor for any information they desire.
