MYSTERY HORSE IDENTIFIED

GELDING WITH MANY ALIASES IS SOLD BACK TO OWNER

Dire mystery surrounds the movements of a horse that about 12 mont’ s ago won a race at Singleton and which subsequently won at Pokolbin four months ago under another name, says a writer in the Sydney “Sportsman.”

The gelding is an animal with many aliases and during the past two years has made his presence felt among country performers in this State.

Turf records reveal the horse in question scoring in a maiden event at Singleton a little over 12 months ago and “Sportsman” knows that he was later trucked to Cootamundra, where he was engaged in two races at the meeting. DISCOVERED! On arrival at the Southern town a well-known ex-A.J.C. trainer, who is now plying his calling under the A.J.C. banner in the Riverina, espied the visitor and it did not take him more than a cursory glance to identify the gelding as one who had previously raced with considerable success on A.R.C. tracks. Needless to add, the gelding was start-shy at Coota., and the night before the meeting was commenced he was entrained and dispatched back to Sydney. GUESS HIS FATE At this time the gelcling was running under the nomination of a man who was a bosom pal of the gentleman who guided the destinies of the horse when at the ponies and a few days after his arrival in the Big Smoke the gelding was disposed of in a city saleyard for the modest sum of £lO 10s. But, as coincidence would have it, the gelding was purchased by his former owner. Private information states that this horse will never be seen again on a racecourse.

The manner of his disposal is known to the man who bought him at the sale. It is not difficult to guess his fate.
