IN THE MAJORITY
At a recent London dog show every judge—there were 70 distinct varieties of exhibits—was a woman, with the single exception of one male expert who travelled from Holland to judge a Dutch breed. The long list of judges included Airs. Quintin Dick, a leading sportswoman, who adjudicated among the gundogs, and the exhibitors included, among other well- known sportswomen and notabilities, the Duchess of Newcastle, the Duchess of Alontrose and Baroness Burton. FOR WORKING PEOPLE As a girl working in a Yorkshire factory, Airs. G. AV. Wilson, president of the Women’s Engineering Society (England) formulated the idea of building houses for working people. When she rose to a prominent place in the engineering world she still cherished the nation, and recently she had the pleasure of seeing the completion of the sixty-fourth home resulting from her early ambition. " She now has plans ready for many more similar homes. A TALENTED DAUGHTER Gilbert Frankau’s younger daughter Pamela is challenging the literary monopoly of the head of her family
by entering 1 the lists herself, and her book, “Marriage of Harlequin,” was published in March by Hurst' and Blackett. Miss Frankau has commenced her career early in life as she is only nineteen.
