COUNTY CRICKET
HOBBS FORM CENTURY IN EACH INNINGS LONDON, Tuesday. The outstanding feature of the county cricket matches which were concluded yesterday was that Jack Hobbs, the great Surrey batsman, for the fourth time in his career sc<#ed a century in each innings. His latest double century was made against Hampshire. A fine score was also made by the young Indian cricketer, Duleepsinhji, a nephew of the great K. S. Rangitsinhji, who scored 254 not out against Middlesex. Surrey in their first innings made 439. Hobbs made 112, Shepherd 120. Jeacocke 55, Peach 77, Fender 53. Newman, for Hampshire, took five wickets for 123 runs.
In their second innings Surrey made 281 for six wickets. Hobbs made 104 and Sandham 58.
Pothecary took foi wickets for 47 runs.
Hampshire in their first innings made 370. Mead made 57 and Newman 102. In the second innings they scored 249 for five wickets. Newman made 102 not out. The match wr drawn.
Sussex in their first innings agains; Notts scored 129. Larwood took seven wickets for 36.
In the second innings Sussex mad; 248.
Notts in the first innings made 244, and in the second innings 136 for two wickets. Walker made 50 not out. Notts won by eight wickets. In their match against Middlesex Cambridge University in the first innings made 231. Dawson made 53. Durston took four wickets for 45 runs. In the second innings Cambridge made 366 for five wickets and declared. Duleepsinhji made 254 not out.
Middlesex in their first innings made 344. Lowe took five wickets for 71. In the second innings Middlesex made 123 for three wickets. The match was drawn. For Glamorgan against r-ssex Bates in the first innings made 1%5, and in the second 111. D. Davies made 121 not out. Ryan took five wickets for 105 runs and Arnott three for 15. For Cssex Hipkin made 102. The match Avas drawn.
Playing for Worcester against Leicester, Root took six wickets for 45 runs. For Leicester Astill took six wickets for 30 runs and Shipman for 15. Leicester won. 'or Yorkshire against Gloucester Holmes made 180, SutclifTe 134, and Kilner 90 not out. Waddington took five wickets for 51 runs. For Glou cester Hammond made 135. Yorkshire won.—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
