A bunch of band records of high playing and reproducing standard are to hand from Columbia. As usual those by the famous Grenadier Guards’ Band are well in the van, and he or she will be indeed hard to please who is not entirely satisfied with one or more of the following:—“The Thistle” (selection of popular Scottish melo dies—9lo2); Sir Henry Bishop’s Songs (9124); Wagner’s majestic “Rienzi’ Overture (9086); “Plantation Songs." selection (9106); and, latest of all, a couple of stereoscopic marches—Alford’s “The Thin Red Line” and Kottaun’s “The Firefighters.” In this record one hears every instrument without difficulty.. All the others are twopart 12in. records, beautifully sharp and realistic in tone.
