STOLEN PROPERTY CAREFULLY HIDDEN
WOMAN’S EXTENSIVE THEFTS Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Jane Ann Johnston, who awaits sentence oh charges involving the theft of good to the value of £1,083, had her ill-gotten property hidden in strange places. In evidence, Detective Bayliss said he went with the accused to her home. She showed him a suit-case hidden in the roof. It contained some of the missing property and was built in between the wall and the chimney. The accused then went and got some jewellery, afterwards telling witness to crawl under the house to the base of the chimney, where behind some loose bricks he would find another suit-case containing more of the stolen goods. He found the case as stated. Witness told the accused that the script of some mine shares was still missing. Accused said she had probably burned this among other private papers.
