THE WHEAT MARKET
CANTERBURY PqSITION Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The wheat position is not so firm as at the week-end. A good deal of whea' was sold during the week at 5s bushel on trucks, merchants doing mo f of the buying. It is suggested that ttfirming was due in a measure to, tt* expectation of the millers’ and growers agreement being ratified. Nothing father in this direction eventuated, an an element of marking-time has set - to a slight extent. Another may have a bearing on the position the heavy yield per acre disclose . the progress threshing returns. It generally expected that the J* would be better than for many but no one expected just half the under wheat to yield 38 bushels t acre. To-day, wheat is being at 5s 6d a bushel on trucks, but du* ness is limited. „^uci Potatoes are the only other P r v in which there is any movement. * * are, perhaps, a shade firmer, w • appreciable change in quotation, tations to farmers are £3 on true*-
