Kuranui.—The Old Battery Level: The cleaning out and re-timbering of this level has been extended 20ft., a total of 264 ft. from the surface. imve east on Barry’s Reef has been extended 4ft., a total of 115 ft. from crosscut. The roof here averages 2ft. wide and is a nice body of stone, carrying a good amount of bright mineral and silica, and looks well for making gold. The country rock is fairly hard, but is of a good class, being still interlaced with mineral veins. This seems to be a blow of quartz in the reef as there is quartz and horses of mullock for a width of 10ft. and thev will all require to be tried to see if any one of the branches carries gold. Obmemuri.—The north drive on the “Camoola” reef encountered a “break” ?* ie L"? 1 in width « at a point 330 ft. from the Silverstream Crosscut. After passing through this intrusion the reef took a course slightly eastward and the next round of holes exposed a solid bodv of or( r- ° a the hanging wall the ore is semioxidised, but sulphides are showing in the other portion of the drive. The d«=»velopment is important on account of the fact that the drive is penetrating virgin 40Qft tn / depth of from 350 ft. to •tJUft. from the surface. The present face is still about 90ft. southward of the parallel chute of ore in the Silverstream section 3noft. westward, from which highgrade ore was obtained. Judging from present appearance the lode at the point wide. . iuLrusion 15 least 35ft.
