FACED PUBLICITY

VERDICT FOR BARONET SAMMAN CASE ENDS By Cable..—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. Hearing was continued in the case in which Robert James Watkin claimed from Sir Henry Samman, a Hull shipowner, the sum of £1,350 for services rendered at Leeds.

Sir Henry Samman in evidence denied that he asked Watkin to arrange a bank transfer of £35,000 in connection with his baronetcy. Mr. Salter, in summing up, asked whether it mattered what the money was for.

The question was whether the subject was introduced to bring pressure to bear on Samman in the hope that he would pay something rather than face publicity. A verdict was given for Samman with costs. —A. and N.Z.
