MORBID PUBLIC CROWDS COURT
GREAT INTEREST IN A CASE OF UNPLEASANT SAVOUR
Although the accommodation provided for the general in the No. 2 court room does not cater for comfort, it does not deter some people from spending a fine autumn day drinking in the details of certain cases that unfortunately occur from time to time. This is* particularly noticeable in a case now occupying the time of the Auckland Court. Yesterday afternoon the body of the No. 2 court room was so crowded and the doorways so packed with people, morbidly anxious to miss none of the evidence, that it was only with the greatest difficulty that officials and others whose duties took them to the court, could force their way into the room. The same conditions also applied this morning, a large crowd having again assembled when the case was called at ten o’clock. Ingress and egress was practically impossible at a later stage when in addition to the inconvenience thus
caused, the stuffy and unpleasant atmosphere of the court room was considerably aggravated.
