P. AND T. SALARIES

INCREASE WANTED RESTORATION OF 1922 CUT Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. The meeting of the executive of the

Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association on May 6 passed the following resolution unanimously: This association disagrees with the recently-published statement of the secretary of the department that, because ot ! m■' possibility ot a decrease in the post and telegraph revenue for the coming year, there should be no immediate prospect of all-round increases in salaries. The association is of the opinion that, in view of the record surplus of .£870,000 for the past year, an immediate restoration "f the £25 per annum reductions suffered under the Public Service Adjustment Act of 1022 should be made, it being remembered that the percentage increase in the cost of living is to-day on a par with 1020, when the Government adjusted salaries and wages to meet living costs, by awarding an increase of £SO per annum.
