THE REGENT
“THE WALTZ DREAM” Another packed audience sat delighted in the Regent Theatre last evening, by the notable programme which has set all Auckland talking. The Waltz Dream,” the sensational U.F.A. feature, has proved as successful as its predecessor, “Variety,” it being just as great a production from a photographic and technical point of view, but different in plot. Whereas “Variety” was dramatic to a degree, “The Waltz Dream” is as gay and light as one of the Viennese dances which forms part of the beautiful musical score arranged by Maurice Guttridge and played by the superb operatic orchestra. “The Waltz Dream" has a notable continental cast, and is worthy in itself as a study in perfect charac-ter-casting. Mady Christians, who plays the leading part, is a beauty in every sense of the word. Scenes of Vienna—the mad, merry, rollicking Vienna of pre-war days, add greatly to the interest of this screen masterpiece. Miss Etta Field, the Auckland soprano, is given remarkable receptions at each appearance, while Kadoma, the Japanese wizard of foot juggling, provides an act that creates a sensation. Eddie Horton plays the mighty Wurlitzer in his usual finished style, and the supporting items are excellent. This great programme will continue for only two more nights.
