“Miss New Zealand 1927” Contest
Photographing Quality Important
Last Weeks of Great Screen Search
Do not hesita.te Do not delay. Remember, “Miss New Zealand 1927“ will not be selected entirely on account of good looks. A good photographing quality is a most important essential. It is said, for instance, by those who have seen her in the flesh, that Norma Talmadge on the street is a very different girl in appearance from the star on the screen. Be photographed. Submit your photograph to THE SUN. “Miss New Zealand 1927” is being offered the greatest opportunity ever knov/n in this country... A fortunate girl, indeed, will be the New Zealand lass who will go to Hollywood.
One feature of the present contest which should heighten the interest is this weekly selection by vote of THE SUN readers. Each week, as stated, one or more competitors will have the satisfaction of winning a place as a semi-finalist. This, however, will not eliminate the chances of the others, for in addition to those chosen by newspaper readers’ votes, a similar number will be chosen by judges. So all competitors have two chances—one by vote, and one by selection of competent judges. Our only concern at the moment is to hasten intending competitors in sending in their photographs. A large number who have obtained entry forms have delayed in sending forward their photographs. It is only right that they should know that the date of entry will not be prolonged, and that they may'miss their chance by delay. As already mentioned, the earlier entrants are likely to have fewer rivals in the weekly vote than those who come in with the rush at the finish. Even if there were only one entrant in any particular week, that one would. necessarily be elected as a semi-finalist. Our advice is to get in early with your photograph. Entry forms are available at THE SUN Office on application. The duration of the “Miss New Zealand 1927” competition is limited to a few weeks. There is every indication that the competition will be one of the moat eagerly contested. THE SUN has already received numbers of photographs. We want them in as quickly as possible. Everyone should enter into the spirit of this great adventure. PUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHS Photographs of approved candidates will be taken free of charge by the I3ell Studio, Karangahape Road. Additional photos of contestants appear in this issue. Others will appear during the competition, and each will have a distinguishing number. Application forms are obtainable at THE SUN Office, and at the Regent, Majestic and Strand Theatres.
