VANDALISM IN OPOTIKI
CHURCH AND SHOP WINDOWS BROKEN
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, To-day. On Sunday night in Opotiki the sound of breaking glass was heard. Investigation in Church Street showed that nine leadlight windows in St. Stephen’s Anglican Church had been broken; also a large plate-glass window in the Farmers’ Trading Company’s shop. The damage is very heavy. It is understood that an exciting chase took place after the vandal, who escaped. Yesterday a man named Noel Stromberg was arrested and charged in the afternoon with being on enclosed premises without lawful excuse and remanded until Wednesday morning.
