CHILDREN ON ARAWA YOUNG IMMIGRANTS ARRRI The child population of N«w Zealand received a fillip yesterday when the Arawa arrived from Liverpool with the last batch of immigrants. She is in every sense a family ship. There were children everywhere r the Arawa, and onlookers wonder*, what sort of a trip the mothers ha enjoyed when they saw the number of young folk scampering round tb| decks. , The Arawa is the last of the imiL grant ships for some months. Tber* were 327 third-class passengers on he and 35 in the second saloon. Families of six were quite comm:! on her and a healthy, happy lot c: English and Scottish children fill have every chance of growing up u New* Zealanders. There was one family of 12, fe Stewarts, booked to disembark ii Auckland. Next on the list were thi Duffys, eleven of tliei , bound for Viington. The Carbin family, numberit; nine, w'ere also going on to WeUiagtm There was also a family of of th McMurray clan, healthy young Scot who should have no difficulty in mu ing their way in the Dominion. The Lindsay family numbered «i|: all told, the Barter family seven, tb Rogerson family seven, the Hartte, Hutchinson, Hughes and Macdonii: all six. There were several smaller famili* of five, including the Higginsom, Wilsons and Fitzgeralds. The Hmk den family, numbering five, will nttbj| ; their home at Oamaru. In the second saloon there was if young English farmer, Mr. R. Griflhpr who has brought his wife, four chflftwj! and mother out to make a fresh*!*# in New Zealand.
