ARCHBISHOP’S MANY GOLD TROWELS

NEW CATHOLIC CHURCH CEREMONY AT KARORI (From Our Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. The foundation stone of the new Catholic Church at Karori was laid yesterday by Archbishop Redwood, who

said that the church had to keep pace with the rapid expansion of the city and keep the ecclesiastical requirements of the people fulfilled. Faher Smyth mentioned that Archbishop Redwood had laid so many foundation stones in his long career that it would require a mathematician to take an inventory of all the gold trowels he possessed. The new church will cost £6,000 when completed, the first portion, now being erected, costing £2,135.
