HIGHLAND DANCING
A SUCCESSFUL COMPETITION The New Zealand Pipers and Dancers’ Association conducted a largely attended and successful competition on Saturday. Mr. McCombe acted as judge, and the results were as follows; Beginners’ Fling (16 competitors): May Akerston 1, Kathleen Cuneen 2. Novice Fling (27): Wilma Lockwood 1, Elodie Crooke 2. Novice Sword Dance (19): Wilma Lockwood 1, Jean Hunter 2. Novice Sean Triubhais: G. Macaulay 1, Jean Golley 2. Highland Fling (under S) (3): Evelyn Guest 1. Fling (under 10) (11): Evelyn Guest 1, Willie Saul 2. Fling (under 13) (12): Flora Dickson 1, Rosa Daniells 2. Fling (under 16) (10). Edna Fitzwilliams 1, Irene Long and Elsie Gillebrand, equal, 2. Sword Dance (under 10), (8): Maisie Dickson 1, Willie Saul 2. Sword Dance (under 13) (14): Rosa Daniells 2, Gladys Macaulay 2. Irish Jig (under S): Evelyn Guest 1. Sailors’ Hornpipe (under 10) (7): Maisie Dickson 1, Hepza Rylett 2. Sailors’ Hornpipe (under 16), (12): Irene Long 1, Edna Fitzwilliams, 2.
