MARISTS V. ATHLETIC

The Marist v. Athletic match, played at Carlaw Park oji Saturday, was anything but of a slashing and dashing nature, and the fans were inclined to droop their heads in sheer lack of interest.

It is evident that Athletic took the field with an exceedingly weak team, consisting of numerous second and third grade men. Its game, therefore, from the kick-off was a defensive one. Marist, on the other hand, had a good team out, and in their attacking combined well.

Avery for Athletic is very fit, and played his usual good game. Throughout the spells he caused the “Tykes” a great deal of trouble. Angelo, Christmas, Anderson and Hudson all combined fairly well, but the tactics of their team were somewhat against them, in giving them a chance to showout. Longville, as fullback, although appearing quite sure was on the slow' side.
