DEATHS AT CAMBRIDGE
TWO OLD RESIDENTS (From Our Otcn Correspondent.) CAMBRIDGE, To-div. Cambridge district is the poorer for the loss during the week-end of two v*>ry well-known and highly respected residents. On Sunday morning at 9.30 o’clock there passed away one of the early pioneers in the person of Mrs. Marion Whitelaw, aged 71 years. Deceased, with her parents. the late Mr. and Mrs. S. Crickett. came out from Scotland 50 years ago and took up residence at Pokeno. Shortly after deceased marriea, and with her husband immediately settled in the Pukerimu district on the farm. “Carseserm.” where she has resided cjver since. Deceased was a sister-in-law of the kite Hon. John Fisher, and with her husband played a full share in the early colonisation of this district, particularly of Pukerimu. Besides her husband she leaves a family of two daughters and one son, also three grandchildren - MR. NOEL PEAKE Sunday morning also saw the death at his residence, Hamilton Road, of Noel Peake, second son of the late George Peake, Wanganui, aged 51. Deceased resided in the district for many years, farming at Roto Orangi. He retired about ten years ago to live in Cambridge. Deceased was a prominent footballer in his day, and took an interest in all sport. He was widely known and highly respected throughout the Waikato. He had been in indifferent health for some time. He leaves a widow and family of three boys.
