FILM ATTRACTIONS
SOME BIG PICTURES ADVENT OF THE “MOVIETONE” Fox films intend releasing many new and expensively-produced motion pictures in New Zealand during the coming year, said Mr. S. S. Crick, managing director of the company in Australia and New Zealand, this morning on his arrival by the Aorangi. He also stated that within a few months the “Movietone” will be brought to the Dominion. This, he says, will revolutionise motion pictures. As the pictures are flashed on the screen the conversation of the players is heard through a carefully adjusted instrument. Mr. Crick says his firm hopes to give operettes, as well as other features, with the “Movietone.”
Mr. Crick has brought over a big picture, “What Price Glory,” in which Victor McLaglan plays a big part. Another picture to be released shortly is “Sunrise,” which is considered to be the most costly picture ever made. “Seventh Heaven” and “Carmen,* based on the opera of that name, are two of the others.
