PAPATOETOE BAND
A meeting of the management committee of the Papatoetoe Town Band was held yesterday. The proposed band dance was postponed for a further month, June 3 being decided on.
Six weeks’ leave of absence was granted Bandsman W. Heald. It was decided that all band finance be handled by the town board and the town clerk and secretary arrange an account for the band to meet incidental accounts. Messrs. Hall, Nesbitt and Fell were authorised to sign cheques on behalf of the band. Accounts totalling £2 7s Id were passed for payment. The secretary reported that the cost of installing the electric light in the bandroom would be £lB. It was unanimously decided that the installation be expedited and Messrs. Coles and Fell were authorised to receive tenders for the work.
A solo competition has been started among members for the winter months, and a concert will be held on June 29 or July 6, whichever night the hall is available.
The president expressed his appreciation of the band’s performance on Anzac Day, and his remarks were endorsed by members of the town board. Appreciation was also expressed of the attention paid the band by SergeantMajor Patience.
