TUAKAU AFFAIRS
The Tuakau Town Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Taylor, presiding.
Upon an estimated total income of £1,824 3s sd, with an estimated expenditure of £1.213 14s 3d, leaving a balance of £6lO 9s 2d for maintenance, etc., a total rate of 3 7-16 d. was struck, it being made up as follow: General rate, ljd: hospital levy, id; special loan, 1 5-16 d; memorial hall loan, 3-Bd. As there has not been any increase in valuations the rate will be similar to that of last year.
Authority was given for the purchase of 280 cubic yards of metal from Smeed's quarries repairs to George Street and Gibson Road.
