WOMAN BEFORE COURT

“I was just out doing some shopping,” said Minnie Phillips, a married woman, aged 37, who was charged in the Police Court this morning with “loitering and importuning passers-by in Nelson Street” last night. “She says she’s a married woman with a family,” said Senior-Sergeant Edwards, and mentioned the fact that the woman had never been before the court before. “It's hard to understand, unless she’s sub-normal.”

Major Annie Gordon undertook to look after her in the meantime, and Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., remanded her for a week for sentence to enable some inquiries to be made.
