SPANIARD BEFORE COURT ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE Charged with committing robbery with violence at Onehunga, on March 24, Gesiderie Diaz, a Spaniard, appeared before Mr. Justice Herdman at the Supreme Court this afternoon. A plea of not guilty was entered. Jeremiah Geaney stated that he met the accused at about half-past five on the day in question in an hotel bar at Onehunga. Complainant told accused that he wanted some advice on how .to return to Australia. Accused told him that he..liad a brother who was a lawyer and that if he accompanied him he would obtln the information he required. They crossed the bridge, and after going some distance stopped at a gate. Accused said he would go and get his brother, and the next thing that happened was that witness was struck on the head with a stick by accused. Accused continued to strike him and then took what money he had on him —a sum of £ 5 10s.
